The goals of this course are to:
1. Increase students' willingness and ability to communicate in English in front of large groups
2. Improve students' ability to organize and prepare the ideas that they will present.
3. Improve students' speaking and body language in presentations
4. Increase students' ability to use visual aids and multimedia in presentations.
5. Develop the ability to critique and give input on other students' presentations
The instructor will teach the basics of presentations using demonstrations, videos, handouts and practice activities. After this instruction phase, student presentations will begin. There will be group and individual presentations.
The basis for the presentation learning phase of the class will be an instructor-led presentation series that will last 3 classes. Each class, students will practice shadowing language related to organizing presentations or attracting audience attention. They will also do fluency practice to practice saying their own ideas smoothly. During these 3 weeks, students will watch video clips of good presentation techniques and be given printed materials to work with. The instructor will assign preparation activities in these 3 weeks, such as quizzes, which will be scored. From the 5th week, students will create their own group and individual presentations and perform them in front of the class. The teacher and other students will provide feedback to the performers. Feedback from the instructor will be in class one-to-one or sent by using the learning management system (LMS) Google Classroom.

I look forward to teaching you presentation skills and see what you can do in this class.
Please bring a computer or tablet capable of using presentation software to the class. Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, Keynote, and LibreOffice Impress are examples of presentation software you can use. You also need to use Google Classroom to do class activities and to receive some feedback. I will help you with this in the orientation.
